A poor first half limited the chances of a comeback win for South Alabama in Steve Campbell's debut, but the Jaguars nearly pulled it off.
The Jaguars fell behind by thirteen at halftime and 16 in the third quarter before mounting a three-touchdown rally on Saturday night. Louisiana Tech put the game away with big plays late, and emerged with a 30-26 victory at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
"Any time you come up short, you're not pleased with the outcome, but I thought the guys played extremely hard," said Campbell, whose team came in as a 10-point underdog. "The game came down to what we thought it would come down to -- turnovers, and we got quite a few.
