Former South Alabama basketball stars Junie Lewis and Jeff Hodge will have their jerseys retired on Jan. 20, the school announced on Monday.
Lewis and Hodge, known collectively as "Peanut Butter and Jelly" during their USA careers, were both All-Sun Belt Conference selections in 1989. That's the year coach Ronnie Arrow's Jaguars knocked off Alabama 86-84 in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Hodge's game-winning shot via an assist from Lewis.
"We are very excited and proud to retire the numbers of Jeff and Junie," USA athletics director Joel Erdmann said. "Their time here at South Alabama is one of the most legendary in our history.
