South Alabama scored eight runs in the first inning on the way to an 11-5 victory at Louisiana on Sunday, clinching the weekend series two games to one.
The Jaguars (9-7) got a three-run double from Carter Perkins and a three-run homer from freshman Hunter Brittain to jump on top early. USA later added a two-run homer from Will Luft as part of a 9-hit day.
Starting pitcher Chase Shell (1-2) got the win for South Alabama, working 5 1/3 innings and allowing four runs. Relievers Jared Proctor, JoJo Booker and Zach Greene held Louisiana (6-9) to one run over the final three innings.
