South Alabama totaled 26 baserunners on the way to a 17-1 victory over Hartford in the opener of a three-game series at Stanky Field on Friday night.
The 17th-ranked Jaguars pounded out 11 hits and also walked 12 times and had three batters hit by pitches. South Alabama (5-1) scored a run in the first inning, four in the second, three in the fourth, two in the seventh and seven in the eighth.
Hartford (0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ashton Bardzell scored on a wild pitch, but South Alabama tied the game in the bottom of the inning on Travis Swaggerty's third home run of the year.
