South Alabama is ranked No. 11 in this week's Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll, the Jaguars' highest national ranking in recent memory.
The Jaguars (7-1) climbed from No. 17 to No. 11 in the Collegiate Baseball rankings, which were released Monday. South Alabama went 4-0 last week, beating nationally ranked Southern Miss 10-9 last Tuesday before sweeping Hartford over the weekend.
South Alabama faces a tough schedule this week, hosting No. 18 Auburn (8-0) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday before traveling for four games at No. 4 Texas Tech beginning Friday. Sophomore right-hander Tyler Perez takes the mound for the Jaguars Tuesday against senior left-hander Andrew Mitchell for Auburn.
