Louisiana-Monroe scored seven runs in the second inning to spark a 12-6 victory over South Alabama at Stanky Field Sunday in the finale of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.
The Warhawks (11-8, 1-2 Sun Belt) had 12 hits, including three home runs, in a game shortened to eight innings by rain. ULM scored at least one run against all five pitchers for South Alabama, which won the first two games of the series on Saturday.
"We got off to a bad start," South Alabama coach Mark Calvi said. "They scored seven runs in the second inning and that's hard to come back from, I don't care who you're playing.
