South Alabama saw its season-best seven-game winning streak end Sunday, dropping a 5-2 decision at Texas State in the finale of a three-game Sun Belt Conference baseball series.
The Jaguars (24-14, 12-5 Sun Belt) scored 21 runs in sweeping a doubleheader on Friday, but managed just four hits against six Bobcats pitchers on Sunday. South Alabama had the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the sixth inning, but could not get them home.
Texas State (21-18-1, 9-9) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring on three consecutive bases-loaded walks in the fourth inning to lead 4-1. Ryan Newman added a solo homer in the seventh inning to make it 5-2.
