MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team used a quality start from right-hander Hunter Soleymani and a six-run fifth inning to defeat Southern Mississippi 9-3 Tuesday at Stanky Field.
Soleymani (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 6 2/3 innings to earn his first win of the season. Mike Dolloff tossed 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings, and allowed three hits with one strikeout and one walk.
"This was a total team effort that started tonight with senior Hunter Soleymani on the mound," head coach Mark Calvi said.
