MOBILE, Ala. – Despite Jaylin Powell's 23 points and 12 rebounds, the University of South Alabama women's basketball team fell to Louisiana 71-64 at the Mitchell Center on Saturday.
Powell's efforts were aided by Nadia Howard who posted 22 points and six rebounds. Combined, the duo put up 16 of the Jags' (7-8, 1-1 SBC) 23 field goals for the contest.
Louisiana (11-3, 3-1 SBC) place four players in double figures starting with Lanay Wheaton (17), followed by Makayia Hallmon (16), Ty'Reona Doucet (16) and Tamera Johnson (12). Doucet also had 18 rebounds for the day, the most of any player, including nine of the Ragin' Cajuns' 17 on the offensive glass.
