South Alabama won't have the luxury of easing into the Steve Campbell era.
By the time September ends, the Jaguars will have faced four 2017 bowl teams who combined for 36 victories last season. Of USA's first five opponents, only Texas State didn't have a winning record or reach the postseason a year ago.
But just how tough is South Alabama's September schedule? By several different measures, it's among the toughest -- if not THE toughest -- in the Sun Belt Conference.
First up is Louisiana Tech on Saturday in Mobile. The Bulldogs went 7-6 and won the Frisco Bowl last season.
