Mobile mayor Sandy Stimpson: 'It's time for the city council to vote' on USA stadium proposal

Frustrated after seven weeks of stalled negotiations regarding a proposal for the city of Mobile to financially assist South Alabama's on-campus stadium project, mayor Sandy Stimpson said in a hastily called press conference Wednesday that "it's time for the city council to vote."

The council again on Tuesday declined to vote on a letter of intent between the University of South Alabama and the city, which would provide $10 million over 20 years to the stadium project in exchange for $2.5 million to upgrade and/or renovate city-owned Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The motion was introduced June 26 before the city council, which has each time tabled acting upon the letter of intent.
