LAFAYETTE, La. -- Kasey Shepherd drained six 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Louisiana Lafayette to a 92-82 win over South Alabama on Thursday night.
Taking a two-point advantage into the break, Louisiana Lafayette (8-8, 4-3 Sun Belt) broke away early in the second half with a 14-2 run that included four free throws and a 3-pointer from Shepherd to make it 60-46 with 16:50 to play. South Alabama (7-11, 2-5), which led by as many as seven in the first half, closed out the game with a 10-2 burst to trim the final deficit.
