Deonta Moore ranks 15th on South Alabama's team with 13 tackles this season, which doesn't sound all that impressive until you consider the following:
1. Moore plays primarily on special teams.
2. He's a running back.
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound junior has made nine tackles on kickoffs and four on punts this year, reaching double digits in in special teams tackles for the third straight season. A former track star at Huntsville High School, Moore said he realized early in his college career that excelling in the kicking game was the best way to get on the field.
