STATESBORO, Ga. | Olivia Lackie tossed a one-hit shutout Sunday afternoon as South Alabama softball defeated Georgia Southern 11-0 in five innings to complete the Sun Belt Conference series sweep of the Eagles at Eagle Field at the GS Softball Complex.
Lackie (17-6) struck out four and didn't allow a hit until a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth. The junior now leads the NCAA with 11 shutouts this spring. After allowing the two first-inning walks, Lackie retired 11 straight before allowing the one-out hit in the fifth.
For the second-straight day, South Alabama (32-13, 14-4 SBC) had offensive production throughout the lineup as eight of the nine starters had a hit and all nine in the lineup reached base safely at least once.
