Jeremy Reaves: From 'No YAC' to bad back to one of South Alabama's all-time greats

Related Topics: Tackle

A former high school running back once derided for his inability to break tackles and whose college career appeared over before it started due to a back injury is on the short list for greatest player in South Alabama football history.

Senior free safety Jeremy Reaves enters his final home game on Saturday against Arkansas State as South Alabama's all-time leader in interceptions (7), pass breakups (21) and forced fumbles (9). The Pensacola native is third on the school's career list with 259 tackles, three behind former teammate Roman Buchanan for second place.

For those reasons and others, Reaves is in the argument for most-accomplished player in the program's nine years of existence, alongside such names as Buchanan, Gerald Everett, Wes Saxton, Kendall Houston, Jereme Jones, Terrell Brigham, Jake Johnson and Enrique Williams.
