HUNTINGTON, W. Va. | South Alabama dropped its second straight conference match, falling to Sun Belt newcomers Marshall Sunday afternoon.
Marshall struck first in doubles with a win at number two, with Aisling McGrane and Sophia Hurrion beating Elysia Pool and Nikola Novotna 6-4. The Thundering Herd claimed the doubles point after a win from Gabrielle Clairotte and Rieke Gillar at number three doubles, beating South's Otoha Aoki and Chems Doha Zeghlouli 6-4.
In singles, Marshall claimed three quick wins to take the match 4-0.
Emma Vanderheyden struck first for Marshall, beating South Alabama's Nikola Novotna 6-1, 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead on the day.
