LAFAYETTE, La. – The University of South Alabama men's track and field's Kirami Yego broke the Home Bank Soccer & Track Facility record and won the 10,000m race while the men's team led after day one of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Jaguars had nine top-5 finishes highlighted by performances from Yego, Teagan Flanagan (10,000m), Onesmus Kemboi (10,000m), Francois Prinsloo (hammer throw) and Josh Estes (javelin).
The highlight of the day came during the final event, the men's 10,000m; in which Yego, Flanagan, Kemboi, Nate Pudner and Jared Peaslee all placed in the top-10, scoring 25 team points for the men's squad.
