HATTIESBURG, Miss. | South Alabama led for most of the game until Southern Miss scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning and used that for a 6-4 Sun Belt Conference victory at Pete Taylor Field on Friday night.
Southern Miss (30-15, 15-7 SBC) trailed until the bottom of the sixth when they took the lead on a Danny Lynch home run before adding another on an infield single. Tanner Hall (9-3) picked up the win for the Golden Eagles by working 8.0 innings with nine strikeouts.
South Alabama (23-22, 11-11 SBC) was held to just five hits on the night, with Austin Thrasher picking up the big hit with a solo home run in the second before a two-run single in the ninth.
