STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern scored six unanswered runs to defeat the University of South Alabama baseball team 8-5 Friday to open Sun Belt Conference play.
USA (9-9, 0-1 SBC) held a three-run lead after four frames, but the Eagles outscored the Jags 6-0 over the final four-and-a-half innings in the victory.
Jacob Condra-Bogan (1-0) tossed 3 2/3 scoreless relief innings, and allowed four hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Jaguar right-hander Randy Bell (0-2) allowed four earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 6 2/3 innings.
