MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team scored seven unanswered runs to defeat Georgia Southern 12-5 in Friday's series opener at J.I. Clements Stadium.
USA (25-13, 12-4 SBC) broke a 5-5 tie with a six-run sixth inning, and added a run in the eighth to secure its ninth consecutive win. Right-hander Miles Smith (4-0) struck out seven in 6 1/3 relief innings to earn his fourth win of the season. Michael Sandle went 3-for-6 with two home runs and a career-high eight RBIs.
