South Alabama's 2018 football season is halfway over, and it's been a mostly forgettable six games for the Jaguars.
Georgia Southern outscored USA by 24 in the second half on the way to a 48-13 victory at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Ga., on Saturday. The loss drops South Alabama to 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the Sun Belt Conference.
"It's disappointing, very disappointing," South Alabama coach Steve Campbell said. "We had chances early and didn't do anything with them, shot ourselves in the foot. We're not there yet, still making mistakes that hurt us."
Quarterback Trai Werts ran for two touchdowns and passed for another for the Eagles, who totaled 394 yards of offense, 295 rushing out of their triple-option attack.
