It was last Aug. 11 that South Alabama wide receiver Sam Harris was called up to the front of the room during a team meeting, for what he and his teammates were told was an "offense vs. defense" competition with Jaguars safety T'Qwan Robinson.
Instead, the two walk-ons were informed they had been placed on scholarship, and no longer had to find a way to pay for school while also playing football. Looking back a year later, Harris still cherishes that moment.
"It's indescribable," Harris said. "I almost broke down in tears. Called my mom.
