Legendary South Alabama baseball coach Steve Kittrell has been named softball coach at Spring Hill College, the school announced Monday.
The 69-year-old Kittrell retired from USA after the 2011 season, having compiled 1,052 victories in 25 seasons with the Jaguars. In recent years, he has been working as a volunteer coach with the Gulf Shores High School softball team.
"I am glad that Steve has agreed to lead our softball team this spring," Spring Hill athletics director Jim Hall said. "I don't think we could have found a more knowledgeable and respected coach and educator to coach our team.
