When South Alabama coaches came to A.J. DeShazor last week and told him he was moving to linebacker, he wasn't sure what to think.
After all, DeShazor is a mere 6-feet and 200 pounds and has played exclusively safety in his year-plus with the Jaguars prior to last week. But with junior-college transfer Roy Yancey sidelined for the season by a broken leg, DeShazor got into USA's four-man linebacker rotation along with senior Bull Barge, junior Khalil McDonald and fellow redshirt freshman Nick Mobley in last week's 41-31 win over Texas State.
"I was excited, to be honest, just because I had the opportunity to get on the field and actually contribute," DeShazor said.
