Zach Biermann drove in five runs and Seth Lancaster, Kevin Woodall and Parker Chavers all homered as Coastal Carolina routed South Alabama 16-4 in the Sun Belt Conference tournament Thursday night in Lafayette, La.
The loss drops the Jaguars (31-24) into the loser's bracket, where they will face Georgia Southern in an elimination game at 3 p.m. Friday. The top-seeded Chanticleers (40-17) get Friday off and will face the South Alabama-Georgia Southern winner on Saturday.
On Thursday, Coastal Carolina hammered out 17 hits against three South Alabama pitchers. The Chanticleers scored three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, then tacked on two more in the seventh and five in the ninth.
