Christion Jones nominated for CFL Special Teams Player of the Year Award

Four players with Alabama football roots have been nominated for yearly awards in the Canadian Football League:

  • The Saskatchewan Roughriders nominated former Alabama wide receiver Christion Jones for the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Year Award. Jones has returned 42 punts for a 14.7-yard average and two touchdowns and 18 kickoffs for a 23.5-yard average. Jones was an ASWA Class 6A All-State selection for Minor High School in Adamsville for the 2009 and 2010 seasons before playing four years for Alabama. While with the Crimson Tide, Jones earned the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year Award for the 2013 season.
