NEW ORLEANS – South Alabama Thrower Reuben Booysen was tabbed as Men's Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week after a dominant performance in the Javelin at LSU, the league announced Thursday.
Booysen launched a monstrous throw of 72.45 meters (237-08) to claim the win and shatter the original school record of 69.63 meters (228-05) set by Justin Cummins in 2004. Not only did Booysen set a new program high he also broke a Lurline Hamilton Invitational record and owns the second-farthest throw in the nation.
South Alabama is headed to Hattiesburg, Miss.
