South Alabama returned to the practice field this week with one defensive goal in mind -- figuring out a way to slow down Air Force's triple-option in advance of the Dec. 30 NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl.
The Falcons (9-3) rank fourth nationally in rushing offense, averaging 322.8 yards per game on the ground. They have rushed for at least 300 yards in a game seven times, four times eclipsing the 400-yard mark.
"They're tremendously well-coached and they have an excellent scheme," South Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said. "They're a tough, physical, well-disciplined team that knows exactly what they want to do, and they run their offense to perfection.
