Alabama's men excelled at the NCAA South cross country regional in Tuscaloosa Friday: with the Tide hosting the event the men took first, second and fourth in the 10000M with all three qualifying individually for the national championship next weekend. Alabama's Gilbert Kigen finished just ahead of teammate Alfred Chelanga to win the regional with a time of 29:44.5, Chelanga was second at 29:47.1 and Vincent Kiprop finished fourth with a 30:04.9 time. The strong finish wasn't enough to qualify the Tide as a team, placing third behind Middle Tennessee and Old Miss. The top two teams go to the national championship.
