Chivas secured another Clásico Tapatío victory as Matias Almeyda’s side sealed a 2-1 win over rivals Atlas at the Estadio Jalisco on Sunday.
Chivas were the dominant team for the majority of the game, and Angel Zaldivar, who started at striker in place of Alan Pulido, would play a crucial role in the opening goal when a penalty was called on 31 minutes. The 23-year-old stepped up and converted to give the visiting Chivas the lead.
Atlas’ evening went from bad to worse nine minutes later. Rodolfo Pizarro cut in from the right flank to take advantage of an Oscar Ustari howler.
