A committed performance by a young Whitecaps lineup registered the club’s maiden victory in the CONCACAF Champions League.
VANCOUVER – In a season that has already seen some firsts, a young-looking Vancouver Whitecaps side put in a workmanlike display to earn the club’s first-ever victory in the CONCACAF Champions League.
It was fitting that one of those youngsters scored the winning goal just before halftime to secure a vital 1-0 home win over Honduran giant Olimpia, as Whitecaps Residency product Kianz Froese claimed three valuable points for the Blue and White in Group F.
Wednesday’s result at BC Place pulled Vancouver level on four points with the Seattle Sounders.
