Per a club press release, Tijuana center back Yasser Corona is out of intensive care, just 24 hours after undergoing surgery to repair damage to his fractured sixth cervical vertebrae. The 29 year old Corona sustained the injury late in Tuesday night’s match against Correcaminos UAT in Xolos’ second Copa MX match when he landed on his neck after challenging for a crossed ball. He was placed into an ambulance and taken to a hospital just a few kilometers from Estadio Caliente.
An initial report states that Corona had “spacers and a titanium plate with four screws” surgically implanted into his spine by a neurosurgeon.
