It was surely not the commanding manner by which it would have liked to commence the Women’s World Cup, but Canada will certainly be happy with Saturday’s 1-0 result against China in Edmonton. Looking ahead, however, the Canadians will know that they’ll need to play a lot better than they did if they wish to go far in the tournament.
While Canada might have been drawn into a favorable group, China’s performance is a clear indication that no team will be easy to beat.
