Though the opponent is a familiar one ahead of Sunday’s final, Japan has nothing but respect for its fellow Women’s World Cup finalist.
VANCOUVER – Japan coach Norio Sasaki spoke of his respect for the United States ahead of the Women’s World Cup final.
In what will be a rematch of the 2011 final in Germany, as well as the gold medal game at the 2012 London Olympics, the defending world champions face the familiar challenge of overcoming a determined U.S. national team at BC Place on Sunday.
Fully aware of the task that lies ahead, Sasaki was full of praise for Jill Ellis’ squad and delighted to have the opportunity to defend its title on Canada’s west coast.
