Why Suarez snubbed FIFA's Ballon d'Or invite

The Barcelona striker turned down the opportunity to attend the awards ceremony in Zurich earlier this month after being named the best player at the Club World Cup in Japan.

Luis Suarez has revealed why he rejected an invitation from FIFA to the Ballon d’Or ceremony and still harbors a grudge against soccer’s governing body.

Suarez still maintains he was harshly treated by FIFA, which handed the Barcelona striker a worldwide ban from all football-related activities totalling four months, plus nine international matches, for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup.

The former Liverpool striker has since become an integral part of the success Barcelona has enjoyed under Luis Enrique and was named as the star player during the recent Club World Cup tournament.
