Why have Barcelona splashed out on Dani Olmo?

The general consensus amongst culers seems to be that Barcelona didn’t need to buy Dani Olmo, much less spend so much money on him.

With Ferran Torres and Raphinha in situ as left wingers - and perhaps a fit-again Ansu Fati coming in as a reserve - as well as attacking midfielders (or those central midfielders that can break the lines if required) that number the likes of Fermin Lopez, Pedri, Ilkay Gundogan, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi when fit, the Barca faithful clearly don’t see the logic.

However, the first thing to note is that this is absolutely a strategic signing from Joan Laporta.
