Whitecaps sign Canadian international defender David Edgar

The 29-year-old becomes Vancouver’s first signing of the summer transfer window, as the ‘Caps look to boost their struggling backline.

VANCOUVER – In what is looking to be a busy summer transfer window for the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Blue and White confirmed on Monday the signing of Canadian international defender David Edgar to an 18-month contract with an option - pending receipt of his international transfer certificate.

The 29-year-old makes the move to MLS after spending the past decade in England, where he made 211 total appearances with several clubs. A former Newcastle United academy product, the Kitchener, Ontario, native had spells with Burnley and Birmingham City.
