Vancouver put in its best performance of the season to earn an important home victory over MLS Cup champion Timbers on Saturday.
VANCOUVER – If one was to look at the statistics of the Vancouver Whitecaps’ victory over Pacific Northwest rival Portland Timbers, it could be argued that the 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Blue and White flattered the defending MLS Cup champion.
Yet, soccer has a tendency to mock such statistics, and for the first hour of this latest Cascadia Cup contest, it looked like Portland was on course for another successful away day at BC Place.
