England’s women’s national team will continue preparation throughout 2021 for a huge summer next year, when they host the 2022 UEFA Women’s European Championship.
It promises to be a big year for the team, who parted ways with head coach Phil Neville in January. Former World Cup winner Hege Riise has taken interim charge of the team before Sarina Wiegman, currently in charge of the Netherlands, takes over the role after this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
England themselves will not compete at the Games, though a number of their players will head out to Japan as part of the Team GB squad that will be aiming for a gold medal.
