Ahead of their World Cup clash with Nigeria in Volgograd, Iceland captain Aron Gunnarsson has hailed the extraordinary support the team has received back home, after 99.6 per cent of the country's television audience tuned in to watch their 1-1 draw with Argentina.
Iceland proved hugely popular in their first appearance at a major tournament two years ago, drawing with Portugal and knocking England out of Euro 2016 before losing to France in the quarter-finals.
After reaching the World Cup for the first time, they picked up where they left off on the big stage, by holding Jorge Sampaoli's heavyweight side to a 1-1 draw in Moscow.
