The Juventus midfielder overcame a pre-match injury scare to net the opening goal of Chile's 2-0 win over Ecuador at the Copa América.
Arturo Vidal scored the opening goal for Chile in its 2-0 Copa América victory against Ecuador at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago and admitted the most important thing was that his side claimed all three points with a 2-0 win.
Jorge Sampaoli's side was occasionally nervous against the Ecuadorians and did not take command until Vidal won a penalty and converted it in the second half.
Vidal explained that the sometimes tepid performance was due to nerves in the camp with so much pressure on the team to win on home soil and vowed that the side will improve before the second Group A match against Mexico on June 15.
