The Spanish football federation (RFEF) have confirmed that VAR will be used in Sunday’s Supercopa de Espana between Barcelona and Sevilla in Tangier.
It’s the first time the technology will be used in Spanish football, and it will be interesting to see how it pans out as the two teams meet.
A statement from the RFEF said they have received authorisation from the International Football Association Board (IFAB) to use VAR and both clubs are in agreement.
VAR was used with varying degrees of success at the 2018 World Cup and it will be used in La Liga next season.
