Toronto FC failed to turn its statistic dominance over the New England Revolution into a win on Sunday.
TORONTO — In soccer, only the scoreboard matters.
That's the lesson learned by Toronto FC in a 3-1 home loss Sunday to the surging New England Revolution, as TFC dominated every statistic except for the one that actually decides the game.
It was highlighted nearly from the outset, as defender Damien Perquis scored an own goal that gave the Revolution a fourth-minute lead despite not actually registering a shot on goal, and from that point on the tone was set.
