The 20-year-old Canadian midfielder has departed his hometown team for the German second tier.
The Vancouver Whitecaps have transferred 20-year-old midfielder Kianz Froese to second-tier German side Fortuna Dusseldorf, the MLS club announced Wednesday.
A homegrown signing in 2014, Froese scored one goal in 15 MLS appearances (two starts) over two and a half seasons with the Whitecaps.
"This is a good opportunity for Kianz to continue his development both on and off the pitch," Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson said in a news release. "This move will also open a pathway for our young midfield players who are ready to compete for minutes.
