The Whitecaps claimed their first competitive trophy since joining Major League Soccer by virtue of a two-goal victory over the Impact.
The Vancouver Whitecaps finally lifted the Voyageurs Cup after 13 years of trying after they comfortably defeated the Montreal Impact 2-0 in the second leg of the Canadian Championship at BC Place on Wednesday night.
A first-half goal by Octavio Rivero and a headed strike early in the second half by Tim Parker powered the 'Caps to the victory over an Impact side that played the majority of the match shorthanded.
The match opened with the Impact enjoying much of the possession, as the Whitecaps were content to sit back and allow the visiting side to stroke the ball around.
