The flight to New Zealand consumed 25 hours of Rubio Rubin's young life. Seriously, he has been on this soccer-crazy planet for only 6,663 days, and fully one of them was spent soaring through its atmosphere on the way from his working address in the Netherlands to join his United States teammates for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
He is thrilled to have made the trip. "It's a great experience for me," Rubin told Sporting News/Goal by telephone from Auckland.
