The United States finally has its opponent for the Gold Cup quarterfinals, Cuba, after the Caribbean nation defeated Guatemala, 1-0, Wednesday night in Charlotte.
With no team in Group B securing more than two points on Tuesday, Panama had already confirmed its placement into the quarterfinals. Since Panama was also in Group A with the United States, the teams could not meet in the quarterfinals, guaranteeing the U.S. would play either Guatemala, Cuba or El Salvador depending on the outcome of the Group C contest Wednesday.
