UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Juventus, and Real Madrid over their involvement in the proposed European Super League.
The three clubs were all set to be part of the 12 ‘founder members’ of the proposed new league which subsequently collapsed when the other nine promptly pulled out amid fierce criticism of the project.
However, the trio have all stayed in, for now at least, which has not gone down at all well with Europe’s governing body.
A statement has now been issued confirming disciplinary proceedings have been opened.
“Following an investigation conducted by Uefa ethics and disciplinary inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus for a potential violation of Uefa’s legal framework.
