We officially have a whistle-blower for the big Champions League match in the Spanish capital.
UEFA has appointed English referee Mark Clattenburg to officiate the European Cup semifinal first leg between Atlético Madrid and Bayern Munich, which will take place at the Vicente Calderón Stadium on Wednesday night. This will be Clattenburg's sixth UCL assignment in the 2015/16 season.
The 41-year-old is one of the Premier League's best referees. A FIFA official since 2006, Clattenburg has regularly been assigned to big European matches involving national teams and clubs. His only assignment in a Final was the 2014 UEFA Super Cup between Real Madrid and Sevilla, but he has been appointed for several knockout matches over the past few years.
