UEFA appoint referee for Barcelona's Champions League opener against Celtic

Barcelona make their Champions League debut in the 2016/17 season against Celtic on Tuesday, and UEFA have appointed a man to officiate the match.

Romanian referee Ovidiu Hategan has been named by the European Federation to take care of the game at Camp Nou, and this will will be his first Champions League assignment this season. Hategan has never overseen a Barcelona match in his career, which is a little bit of an interesting fact.

The 36-year-old is a young referee, but he has a nice career already, including two matches in Euro 2016 (Poland vs Northern Ireland, Italy vs Ireland).
